Young Astronauts

The River Ridge Academy Young Astronauts Club is open to any fourth grade student.  As a member of the club, students participate in stimulating activities focusing on the basic principles of flight, aeronautics and space exploration.  Some exciting events include various STEM projects, egg drop, and making mock space shuttles.  The club is going to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida February 23-24, 2017.  Children have the opportunity to interview an astronaut, experience real flight shuttle simulation, explore the grounds and learn all about the history of the space program and NASA.   All club meetings are held on Friday mornings from 7:45-8:40 starting in November and ending in March.   The club meeting dates also correlate with the space and astronomy unit that is done in the classroom.  All children participating in the club will pledge to improve their grades in science and math.
