ST 1.3
ST1.3: Students are empowered to personalize and self-direct their STEM learning experiences supported by STEM educators who facilitate their learning.
The students at River Ridge Academy are challenged by our educators to seek opportunities throughout their lives, within and outside the school day. Through offering a variety of clubs, community based learning experiences, daily challenges within the classroom and the PLTW curriculum, students are routinely motivated to make real life connections to their STEM learning. Students participate in robotics club, e-Cybermission teams, recycling clubs and our district science fair to mention a few. They engage in community based learning opportunities such as Adopt-A-Highway, the establishment of a rain garden, attending a Plasma Expo and conducting energy analysis research within schools in our district. All of these are facilitated by our instructional staff within the building who offer frequent support, feedback and encouragement along the way.
A PLTW teacher works side by side with students to guide them through their robotics program and assist with problem solving when needed.
River Ridge Montessori students self-direct their learning experiences. The lower Montessori students utilize weekly plans, while the upper Montessori students utilize Google Classroom to track their progress through learning objectives.
