ST1.11: Students are supported in their STEM learning through adult-world connections and extended day opportunities.
River Ridge Academy students receive multiple opportunities for support with their STEM learning through a variety of adult-world connections and extra-curricular activities. Our students are involved in multiple clubs taking place after-school which include, but are not limited to, Robotics Club, eCybermission teams and our Adopt-A Highway initiative. In addition, our middle school students participate annually in the science fair many of whom receive local and regional recognition for their projects. Some of the other STEM based opportunities that our students are afforded are the Plasma Expo, Career Exploration day, Carowinds STEM trip, PreK Pumpkin Patch learning experience, Boeing community based learning experience and our annual STEM showcase.
Girls on the RunGirls on the Run strives to empower elementary and middle school girls in developing lasting relationships while building confidence, teamwork, and physical fitness. Girls on the Run focuses on current, real-world problems that girls relate to and assist in finding ways to problem solve and handle these situations. The goal is to build to a 5K and celebrate each other's successes.
River Ridge Academy is a proud Green Steps School. Green Steps Schools is an environmental education and action initiative that recognizes schools in South Carolina who take annual sustainable steps toward becoming more environmentally responsible. River Ridge Academy students take part in many extended day, community-outreach projects as part of the Green Steps School program.

Raider Robotics Club
The River Ridge Academy Robotics Team is made up of students in grades 5-8. Students learn to build and program EV3 robots to perform a variety of tasks. The robotics team competes in the First Lego League and the Storm the Citadel E-Weeks Competition. In First Lego League students must complete a project that solves a problem, students must then present this project to FLL judges. Students also create and program a robot that will compete in the FLL Robot Game. Students have the opportunity to advance in FLL to state championships. Students will also compete in the Storm the Citadel E-Weeks Challenge, students will participate in two events Robot Golf and the Mystery Challenge.
