The Responsive Classroom

Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching that focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness.  Responsive Classrooms create safe and joyful learning communities where students develop strong social and academic skills so that every student can thrive.

Morning Meeting

Morning Meeting sets the tone for respectful learning and establishes a climate of trust.  The purpose of Morning Meeting is to merge social, emotional, and intellectual learning.  At RRA, every student engages in Morning Meeting for 20 minutes a day. Morning Meeting begins with students greeting each other, followed by a time to share, then an activity for the whole class.  The activity time helps the class feel united as a group, reinforces academic skills, and helps the children learn how to cooperate and solve problems.  It is our belief that when students learn appropriate social skills they will have further cognitive growth and intellectual progress.
