5th Grade

Good morning Parents/Guardians of 5th grade students,

We hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying family time. We miss our students, and appreciate all your support as we are navigating the new Online Instructional model and what's best for our students.

Going into our 3rd week, we would like to simplify the process and provide an outline of daily & weekly expectations for our 5th graders.

Listed below are expectations by subject. Each subject should only take about 30 minutes a day. EACH SUBJECT will collect 1-2 Formative grades weekly, and 1 Summative within a 2 week time. We suggest creating a “daily” routine so the students can get into a “groove” like we were actually in school.

English/Language Arts: (Haines & McCarthy)

Check in ELA Google Classroom daily and complete assignments.

Daily expectations and graded assignments with due dates will be indicated.

30 minutes of independent reading daily preferred.

Math: (Downing & Harper)

Check in Math Google Classroom daily and complete assignments.

Complete daily assignments through various websites or uploaded worksheets.

Submit assignments by the listed due dates for grading.

Please note required assignments and extra practice.

Social Studies:(Foxworth)

Log in to Google Classroom every day. The daily assignment will be posted in the morning. There will be a short video lesson or activity every day, with a short quiz on Friday. The quiz on Friday is open notes and students may use their binders and notes.

Science: (Brown)

Submit by the due dates for graded assignments.

If you are unable to access Internet resources and would prefer a packet, please email your teachers directly for pick up on Tuesday, March 31 from 8am-10am.

In addition to core academic resources, please have your child check their Encore Google Classrooms and complete the assignments. Each Encore teacher has a Google Classroom set up for his/her students.

Spanish (Cohen) ONLY:

Please come to the school to pick up your child’s Spanish folder and notebook along with a packet of work for them to complete. There will also be work assigned through Google Classroom so please check that with your child regularly. Each assignment will be listed in Google Classroom along with the due date as well as in PowerSchool to help keep students organized and on top of their assignments.

There was work assigned on Google Classroom on Monday, March 16 which is due Tuesday, March 31. Pick-up is Tuesday, March 31 from 8:00 - 10:00 am.
